JPP - Shaking hands and chasing hearts

JPP Wednesday - 6th/12 -$20.00
The cards just weren't falling for me. I lost about 300 or so pretty quick with AQ. I could've saved the rest of my chips if I went with the correct read that I had on Ryan next to me on an early hand. I had QQ and raised it up a good little bit and he called. 2 players and the flop comes KKx. I bet to find out where I was at and he doubled it. OK. Clue #1, this guy is not a very sophisticated player so I figure he's either got the King (and shouldn't be re-raising me on the flop) or he's got something like AQ or AJ that he thinks is pretty strong at this point and is attempting to either bluff me out or put more money into a pot that he thinks he is leading. I think for a while and ask him to count his chips. His hand is shaking like crazy. Mystery solved. The guy has a king. I still haven't read any of the books on Poker Tells, but I know that people usually aren't as shaky if they're bluffing. A little bit of fear doesn't make an amateur shake as much as a whole lot of excitement about winning a huge pot. I could've saved 500 chips but at that point I decided to go All-in and at least make sure I saw his cards. (Big slick right? Nope, K6 or some shit like that.) It was a really stupid call on my part, but with $5 re-buys it was a pretty cheap lesson in reading the way the guy handled his chips. I will definitely use it against him in the future. As usual in recent games, I busted out with the better hand in a 60/40. I was shortstacked in 6th position and went All-in and lost A4suited against Drew's K10 offsuit.

Online Wed/Thurs
I went on a huge run at UltimateBet. Ran my $10 up to $60 playing $1 and then $5 SNG's. Part of it was just a ridiculous run of good cards. One game I had AA 4 times in the same game and even managed to lose that particular one. Nice! I also took 2nd in a 18 person $6+.50 Turbo at PokerStars.

PokerStars +$25.00

JPP Friday - 3rd/11 + $10.00
I finished 3rd tonight which was nice because I had been in a slump for over a month. I would've had a better shot at 1st or 2nd if I didn't lose a big pot just before the end of the re-buys. I took a calculated risk to try to become the monster stack at the table and it didn't work out, but I'm still convinced it was a good play. I raised the 50BB to 200 in early position with A6 hearts. I was pushing a little because I had a biggish stack and I figured I could get the smaller stacks involved with some marginal hands because they could still re-buy. Eli raised all-in behind me for an additional ~300 and John called the 500 which left him with about 600. If John had gone all-in to push me out I would've folded, but at this point I was getting a good price to see the flop. 300 to win ~1200 and the other opponent still in can't take me out. The flop came Kxx with 2 hearts. So now I know that unless I'm up against AA, KK, or Ax I am basically even money to win this pot. I didn't really put Eli on a monster hand because he was so short-stacked, and I didn't really think John was either because he called and didn't immediately risk all his trips to try to double up off of me. He was first to act, and raised me all-in for another 600. The ONLY flop I would've called him on was 2 hearts. That's it. I got the flop I was gambling to get (well, 3 would've been nice) so at worst I have a 33% chance to win now. 600 to win 2100, yep the math works out so I call. Eli has QQ, John has jj. I wasn't 33%, I was closer to 45% post flop to catch the heart or the Ace! The turn and the river were blanks and I lost about half my stack. "Mic" went on to tell me what a horrible call it was but Mic is a jackass. Blinds were killing me in 3rd at 200/400 so I went all in KJ suited and lost when Eli's A9 offsuit held up. I am still not winning races here, but at least my slump of losing money has ended.

K6 ?? you can only shake your head when people call a preflop raise with that. But I have to say that I am thankful that their are players out there like that.
